Abstract

During past decades, illegal small arms and light weapons transfer became a significant problem to the International Community, and implied a great need for the establishment of a system for better control of export that will include dimension of security, humanity and development. The end of the Cold War and division of the world have brought a great spillover of military arms that was mainly in a possession of actors of the Cold War. Also, non- adequate control over this weapons resulted an enormous increase of its circulation all over the world. With no doubts, we could say that small arms and light weapons are a large source of danger for the current security in today's world. Author analyses UNDP programms developed in the department of human security with the aim to fight SALW (small arms and light weapons).
