Abstract

In this article, author emphasizes that countries of transitions or former socialist states of Central and Eastern Europe, which developed multiparty system, simultaneously with democratic process, adopted not only market economy but organized crime as well. International crime in the countries of transition found a friendly environment to develop in many forms, and its expansion is noticed in the area of international drugs trade, trade of illegal weapons, arms, stolen cars, cultural goods and money laundering.

Analyzing measures against organized crime, as a condition for security, author concludes that adequate legal regulations and the success of its application as well as promotion of international cooperation in the fight against organized crime, at the same time give possibility for a stronger fight against its most dangerous forms. On the other hand, lack of international cooperation and the timely information, makes it more difficult to implement rational program in the prevention of organized crime in the wider transitional area.
