Security of Citizens in the Process of Transition - Case Study of Kosovo From 2002 to Present (April 2006)

This article is focused on the interactive reflection of the state of security and citizen's freedom. Kosovo is the society in transition, with all specific issues of the after war situation and unresolved international status. Despite everything Kosovo has recorded rise of the citizen awareness as well as the efficiency of the judicial branch in its attempt to establish a satisfactory level of security. Article also focuses on individual and collective perception of security and its influence on the general perception of freedom in Kosovo. According to the author, the transfer of jurisdiction from the UNMIK on local authorities is one of the most important conditions for the security as well as for the freedom of citizens.
