Abstract

In this article author is examining some aspects of democratic control of security services in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In democratic societies, function of security services is to protect national security and vital interests of democratic state, where democracy cannot be considered a consolidated, until these services are brought under democratic control. Therefore, establishing a clear legal framework is the most important step of bringing security services under democratic control. It is also important to set standards, political culture and resources that will foster a willingness among those that are responsible for democratic control of security services.

Various countires have different norms and practices of democratic control, and one of the main tasks of this control is to make sure that these services are functioning properly.
