Abstract

The paper discusses the approach to analysis of the contemporary security issueswith a focus on deductive and inductive approaches.

The author is looking at the contemporary security phenomena on two levels – global and local, and strives to prove that without action and intervention on both levels, we cannot speak about an adequate response to the security threats.

Relaying on the method of comparison, the paper strives to prove that the security issues cannot be viewed outside of the political and economic context, whatever the level may be (global or local). It also considers the gap between the rich and the poor, and takes Bosnia as an example of the related processes.

It concludes that, for example, the growth of poverty can increase the security risks which follow the instability of the country and the region with a tendency of ‘overflowing’. In the case of Bosnia, the author poses the question if the International Community should ease and accelerate for Bosnia its road to the NATO and EU for the reason of prevention of further worsening of the security situation or new security threats.
