Abstract

Over the years police officers have experienced an increase in the number of incidents wherein persons who display violent behavior confront officers. In the given circumstances, most police departments in transition countries are concerned about officer and suspect safety. Previously, to meet this problem, police departments in developed countries of the world have sought answers of that problem in use of non-lethal weapons. Oleoresin capsicum (OC) sprays are one weapon from the non-lethal arsenal that addresses more effectiveness solving the problem of officer and citizen safety, than CN and CS - sprays can do. So, uncertainty with respect to the use of lethal weapons during police officers self defense in the countries which passes process of transition, to which in the given circumstances are exposed numerous values, can be diminished or avoided by the use of non-lethal oleoresin capsicum (OC) sprays.
